Will the soap and boiling water thing work?

So about 4 days ago my 8 year old brother flushed a medium sized pill bottle through the toilet, thing is it stopped halfway in and clogged. It won't flush and you have to plunge the water through for the toilet to be clean.

I heard about the soap and boiling water thing and decided to give it a try. I told my parents but they don't think it'll work. I'm kind of desperate anyway and they're out so I'm going to try it. But do you think it'll work?
