In general, does a washing machine require warm water from the water supply, or does it have a facility to heat the water by itself i.e. electrically, as does a kettle?

How can I tell if my washing machine REQUIRES a hot water input?

I have heard some washing machines only have a a cold water input...

My washing machine has two taps going into it, a blue and red, cold and 'hot'.
