I have never owned or occupied a property with a back boiler, but I am about to buy a property that has one. Before anyone answers telling me about CORGI registered engineers, etc, I already know that and would not have it serviced by anyone who wasn't appropriately qualified.
I don't fully understand how easy or difficult it would be to service a back boiler with a gas fire in front of it. Will there be likely to be a lot of upheaval and mess caused? Or is it usually a relatively straightforward job?
We will have the boiler removed and replaced with a more up to date one in due course, but we won't be able to afford to have that done straight away.
