Replica Watches Vs. Authentic Watches.?

Today, replica watches are being made to the very finest of details, being almost identical to an Authentic watch (except for real gold, jewels, etc) And it occurred to me that since they are almost completely identical, why bother pay for a $1000 Cartier when you can get an almost identical cartier for $50? I don't care about a watch being authentic and real, i care about how it looks on my wrist!!! What is your opinions on this matter? I see a $1000 watch as only a watch to brag to your friends and colleagues.
